The snowman is one of the most well-known symbols of winter. Snowmen have been made for a very long time and probably won’t stop anytime soon. Why not spend some time learning more about everyone’s favorite work of “art” now that another winter is upon us?

The standard snowman is often made up of three giant snowballs of various sizes, along with some extra accessories for facial and other features. A basic happy face with a carrot for a nose is a common accessory, as are branches for arms. It’s possible to insert human clothes like a hat or scarf.

The popular song “Frosty the Snowman” describes a snowman with a corncob pipe, button nose, coal eyes, and an old silk hat, among other variants of the standard shapes usually depicted as a top hat.
