How to Draw a Red Onion

Materials
- Pencil
- Paper
- Coloring material
Instructions
Step 1: Draw the Bulb
Begin your red onion by drawing the bulb using an oblong shape. Start drawing a horizontal oblong shape on the lower portion of the paper. Leave a space on the upper portion for other parts of the red onion.
Step 2: Add the Base of the Scape
Since we are done with the bulb, let’s add the base of the scape. Start this on the upper, center portion of the bulb. We do this, by drawing two curved lines on the top. See the reference image above for you to be guided.
Step 3: Add Details
Let’s enclose the base scape using a short horizontal curved line. To do this, draw the curved line on the top. Your drawing now looks like a vase on the table. See the reference image above for you to be guided.
Step 4: Add More Details
Now let’s start adding details to the base scape using an up-down stroke. Draw this up-down stoke in the upper portion of the base scape. Make sure that the up-down stroke will not overlap with the curved line on the top. See the reference image above for you to be guided on how to do it.
Step 5: Remove Lines
This time, we will erase lines that are not important to our drawing. First, erase the line that separates the bulb and the base scape. Then, also erase the curved line on the upper portion of the up-down stroke. This will help emphasize some parts of the red onion.
Step 6: Add the Patterns
As we can see onion has a curved line pattern on the outer part of the bulb. When you draw the pattern try to start the line from the up-down stroke line on the top then drag it down to the bottom. This will help your drawing neat. Add the two-slanting line on the bottom part then enclosed it with a curved line.
Step 7: Add the Leaves, the Eye Guide, and the Adventitious root
Let’s add the leaves using a half elongated oblong shape on the upper portion of the onion. Draw three leaves for your red onion. Then inside the bulb, draw the connected eye guide. On the bottom part draw a small up-down stroke.
Step 8: Remove Lines
Now, I want you to erase the curved lines inside the eye guide because later we will put the eyeballs. Then, erase the curved line below the up-down stroke on the bottom part of the bulb. Be careful about erasing the lines because you might erase the important ones.
Step 9: Add the Eyeballs
Hurray! We are almost done. This time, I want you to put an eyeball on each eye guide. Then, add the mouth below the eye, using the small letter C. Then erase the line in the leaves that overlap with the other leaves to make it clean and good.
Step 10: Finish up!
Grab your coloring materials and begin coloring your red onion drawing. Inside the red onion tend to be whitish in color but the outer skin should be red since our drawing is a red onion or even close to orange. After that, Congratulations you made it.
