I find it fascinating that giant animals called dinosaurs roamed our planet millions of years ago. And I am also grateful that such animals no longer inhabit our planet. Thanks to books and films like Jurassic Park, I can visualize how humans would fare against ancient predators. I have no delusions of grandeur; I definitely would be lunch for a T-Rex. But, luckily, dinosaurs coexisting with humans is fiction. However, that does not mean that your kids can’t learn more about these fantastic creatures.

About the T-Rex
Despite the popularity of the T-Rex in Jurassic Park, the animal didn’t actually live in the Jurassic period. It lived roughly 65 to 70 million years ago in the Cretaceous period. The T-Rex was one of the largest predators of the dinosaurs, being approximately 40 ft. long and weighing close to five tons. However, it was not the biggest. Its name Tyrannosaurus Rex translates to mean ‘Tyrant Lizard.’ These massive animal fossils have been found in North America and Asia. They are thought to have been ambush predators, where they would hide in the foliage and then blitz their prey with a short burst of speed. They would attack with their huge mouth full of eight-inch teeth. So, again I say, I would have been lunch for a T-Rex if humans and dinosaurs lived at the same time.
Coloring a T-Rex
Our selection of T-Rex coloring sheets can provide coloring fun for kids or adults of all ages. One of the best things about the popularity of the T-Rex is the many adaptations and forms it has taken in popular culture. We have Barney, the dinosaur in the same world as Godzilla, right? So, do not worry that you won’t be able to find a T-Rex coloring page for your kids. There is a variety of coloring pages for all age groups.
For younger children, toddlers, or preschoolers, a simple picture of a friendly T-Rex or cute T-Rex may be what is desired. These pictures still depict the fierce predator. However, these pictures are tamed, cartoon, and adorable. Your young children will love these cute coloring sheets and the simple patterns to color.
Older kids may desire to color a more realistic depiction of the Tyrant Lizard. There are many options of fierce-looking T-Rexes as they hunt, roar, or fight. While these pictures may be slightly more frightening for young kids, adults and older children will love coloring these impressive pictures.
It is theorized that T-Rex often hunted dinosaurs like the Triceratops and Hadrosaur. The Hadrosaur is a duckbilled dinosaur with an elongated crest stretching out behind its head. The triceratops is a three-horned, four-footed dinosaur with a large fan-like crest on top of its head. Some coloring pages will depict a T-Rex on the hunt against one of its prey. Kids will love to color action scenes depicting triceratops attempting to ward off a T-Rex or even two T-Rexes dueling over rights to a meal.
These dinosaurs lived in a much different environment than most of us today. The world was younger, more unstable, and much hotter. Your children will also love to color the unique settings these dinosaurs are set in. Get a big box of crayons so your kids can color the tropical scenery, alien plants, and bursting volcanoes in the background of these ancient creatures.
