The winter months of the year bring to mind Frosty, the snowman with a carrot nose, Santa, and more than one major holiday. Whether your family celebrates no holidays, Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, or another holy day, your child can enjoy this winter-themed page. The great thing about snow people is they do not reference any religion. This makes them an ideal subject for coloring pages.

While for simplicity’s sake, we use the term snowman, you can draw any clothes you want onto your snow people, so the figures on your snowman coloring page represent how you view the world. You can color a brown scarf onto a cute snowman or snowwoman or choose a neon color to make it stand out against the snow. Perhaps you want to color a picture of Santa Claus in a red suit with a snowwoman on it. Do it! It is your artwork.

Each printable snowman coloring sheet provides a different theme. You might use glitter markers or glitter glue in a silver color to make your snowpeople stand out. This adds an air of realism to your coloring sheet, since if you ever play in fresh snow, you know that it glistens in the sunshine, making it seem iridescent.

Some of these printable snowman coloring page projects provide an ideal, simple sketch for preschoolers to color. This type of image remains basic and relies on one main subject, so the preschool child does not become overwhelmed. These winter coloring pages help them develop fine motor skills while providing a creative outlet that keeps them entertained indoors while parents work or cook the holiday meal.

While snow and snow people are usually ivory or shimmery white, you can color the other items on the coloring sheet brightly, such as a green Christmas tree with ornaments in every color. You can color the clothing of each character in any hue you like. Trees might be brown if barren of leaves or green if pines or other evergreens. Reindeer fur typically grows brown, and they sometimes have white spots.

Younger children should use large crayons for their snowman picture or coloring book. Older children, such as those in kindergarten through grade school, can use regular crayons. Middle school children and older kids can use colored pencils or pens, watercolor markers, or oil pastel sticks to color their free snowman coloring pages.

Other options for coloring pages include downloading each as a .pdf file. Using a pdf lets you open the file in a computer or mobile app like Windows Paint 3D and color it using the program’s massive color palette. By doing this, your child could also add clipart or stickers to their project and e-mail it to family or friends who cannot attend the holiday celebration.

You can print some of these snowman printable coloring sheets for kids to create mementos to put in seasonal letters or holiday cards you send to family and friends. Whether you choose these printables with a Disney theme or an old-fashioned winter scene, printing these for your children to color involves them in the seasonal preparations and lets them build art and motor skills while helping get things ready for the holidays.
