Harry Potter Characters and Premise

Harry Potter is a kid who lives in the muggle world until a letter invites him to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft. Harry is a young wizard, along with his close friends Ron and Hermione. In addition to exploring wizardry, Harry Potter is a coming-of-age story.

When Harry arrives at Hogwarts, he is assigned a house via the sorting hat. Gryffindor is the house that Harry is in. The other houses include Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff. Each house embodies different characteristics.

The ultimate antagonist of the series is Lord Voldemort. He attempted to murder Harry when he was a baby, but instead killed Harry’s parents. It was prophecied that Harry was the only wizard who could stop Lord Voldemort.

Professor Snape is a character both loved and hated throughout the books and movies. One Harry Potter coloring page has Hermionie holding a magic wand in Snape’s lab.
