Kids love coloring vampires, despite the macabre and horrific source material. In many ways, vampires have become less scary and more of a Halloween staple for many people. Halloween-themed coloring pages would be greatly lacking without any dark-cloaked, pale-skinned, and fanged vampires as the subject. Of course, most of the modern-day vampires that we know stemmed from the most famous vampire of all, Dracula.
Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula was not the first vampire novel, but it undoubtedly has had the most significant impact on popular culture. The story of the blood-sucking fiend from Transylvania has been told and retold countless times. Children are aware of the chief of vampires, even if they don’t know the original story. Because of the popularity of Bram Stoker’s titular character, many coloring pages of vampires often include Dracula as the main subject.
Recently, a series of children’s movies made by the comedian Adam Sandler introduced a new generation to Dracula. The Hotel Transylvania film series brings Dracula to life as a human-fearing, overprotective father. Kids will recognize and love coloring pages associated with this new take on Dracula.
Beyond the vampire Dracula, many other forms of vampire-related substance can provide excellent coloring sheet material. Halloween-related coloring sheets are a popular theme for vampire coloring pages. Kids will be thrilled about the Halloween festivities that feature vampires amongst jack-o-lanterns, haunted houses, and other familiar monsters like Frankenstein’s monster, ghosts, werewolves, and witches.
Vampire coloring pages also provide fun settings that children will love to color. Often, pictures depict vampires at night, around full moons and foggy forests. Dracula is always associated with dark abandoned castles. Sometimes, vampires are displayed close to their coffins, where they shelter from the sun. Kids love to color not only vampires but those objects and settings that are associated with the monster.
Vampires will always be associated with bats. Another fun and typical character depicted on vampire coloring pages are the bats into which vampires can transform. Children can sharpen their fine motor skills by coloring the winged creatures of the night. Some pictures may depict a giant bat with exaggerated fangs to represent the vampire in bat form.
As the legends of vampires age, the newer stories often depict these immortal monsters in modern settings. Coloring pages that show vampires in more modern settings can be a fun variation to the traditional vampire coloring page. Many movies and television series have used this trope by inserting vampires into stories set in our modern world. Vampire coloring pages can have vampires set in a more modern background or dressed and styled in a contemporary aesthetic.
Whether your child is a fan of Hotel Transylvania, Twilight, or any other vampire-related media, they will find some printable vampire coloring sheets to suit their desires. Enjoy hours of fun coloring these printable coloring sheets, all depicting vampires.
