Tweety Bird

Tweety Bird is a classic cartoon character created by the iconic cartoonist Warner Bros. Tweety Bird also appeared in Merrie Melodies. This adorable character first made his cartoon debut in 1942. Few people realize that Tweety Bird’s character was actually based on the Red Skelton character called “Junior the Mean Widdle Kid.”

Tweety Bird was created to play the arch-enemy of another beloved Warner Bros character, Sylvester the Cat. Tweety Bird spent many storylines tormenting Sylvester and always coming out the wiser to their owner, “Granny.”

These pages can be used in a variety of ways. Let’s look at some fun ways you can use this resource.

Screen Breaks for Kids- It is important that children have some screen-free time each day, but it can feel challenging to find engaging activities they want to do. Coloring can be a wonderful time. Children will especially enjoy this type of screen break if their parents or guardians also engage with them as well.

Coloring together not only gets your child off of their screen, but it is also a good way to spend quality time together.

Coloring Contests- These pages could also be used to organize a coloring contest. Invite children from church, school, or other groups to participate in the coloring contest for fun prizes.

Relaxation- Coloring is a very relaxing activity. This activity can be used to cut down on anxiety and stress throughout the day. Many adults have discovered that they can use coloring to help with depression, cut down on anxiety, and even make stress more tolerable.

When you feel overwhelmed, take a coloring break to recenter and ground yourself.

Screen Time Follow Up- If your child loves to watch television, you can balance that TV time with coloring pages based on TV characters such as Tweety Bird. This helps kids to learn that they can have screen time in balanced amounts. Using a coloring page based on a character they watch on TV makes the transition from screen to no screen easier.

Other Activities To Consider

Looking for more ways to engage without a screen? Let’s look at some other Tweety Bird activities that can be a lot of fun.

Tweety Bird Model- You can create a Tweety Bird model out of clay or even paper mache. This is a wonderful way to expand your child’s creative skills and also keep them off their screen for a little longer.

Tweety Bird Puppet- You may want to help your child create a Tweety Bird puppet. Puppets can be used again and again for screen-free fun.

Tweety Bird Stories- Encourage your child’s creativity as well as their writing skills by helping them write a Tweety Bird story. Perhaps they could include Sylvester the Cat and Granny as well. Perhaps your child wants to introduce new characters as well.
