Polar bears have a sort of aura of mystery about them that only certain animals seem to acquire. I don’t know if that is because their habitat is in the Arctic Circle of the world, which is home to other phenomena like the Northern Lights. Or, perhaps it is their majestic and austere appearance. It could be some of both aspects. Nevertheless, polar bears are fascinating and somewhat mysterious animals. That is why we have compiled a series of polar bear coloring pages. These printable coloring sheets will provide a fun activity as your little ones enjoy coloring pictures of this magnificent animal.

A Little About Polar Bears
There are so many interesting facts about polar bears. For starters, these animals are enormous! I have seen polar bears at a zoo, and I have also experienced a couple of bear sightings in the wild of black and grizzly bears. But, if I were to encounter a potential predator the size of a large polar bear in the wild, it would be a truly awesome and terrifying experience. Polar bears can reach heights close to 10 feet and weigh close to a ton! Males tend to be about twice as big as females. Polar bears are fantastic swimmers and have epic endurance. They can swim for hours and even days at a time. Their primary food source are seals. The polar bears will show incredible patience in hunting seals. They will wait motionless for hours by a seal’s breathing hole in the ice and pounce once the seal comes up for air. These magnificent creatures are slowly losing habitat to a warming planet and some displacement by humans.
Coloring Polar Bears
An exciting thing about polar bears is that their fur is not actually white; it is translucent, reflecting the white light from the sun. Under their coat, polar bears’ skin is black. But, despite those interesting facts, to our eyes, polar bears have white fur. And, some kids may find it challenging to be creative in coloring a white-furred animal.
I don’t know if any of you have ever gone to a hardware store looking for white paint, but apparently, there exist many forms of the color white. Children can use cream-colored pencils or crayons, yellow, or even add dashes of gray to add texture. And, that does not mean that your children must color the polar bear white. There are many accent colors like blues, purples, and light greens that can provide a wintery feel to a polar bear coloring page. Encourage your kids not to feel trapped in just using a generic white or leaving the bear uncolored.
Another fun coloring aspect of many of these polar bear coloring pages is the wintry scenes around them. Again, do not be dissuaded by all the white snow, but encourage creativity in these coloring pages. Use as many crayons as you can to bring life and color into these wintry scenes depicting these polar bears. There are a lot of different shades amongst the ice, water, and snow of the polar bear’s habitat.
Our polar bear coloring pages are appropriate for all age groups. Toddlers and preschoolers may enjoy simpler or more cute bears on their coloring sheets. These adorable coloring sheets are often a baby polar bear and its polar bear mother. Older kids may want an entire winter scene with a shambling bear as the primary focus. A cartoon polar bear can be seen amongst Christmas-themed coloring pages as a companion of Santa and his elves at the North Pole. Regardless of the age group, we are confident that you will find something to like in our printable polar bear coloring sheets.
