May Day
Many people in Europe celebrate May first as May Day. This holiday stems from a festival celebrated anciently to mark the beginning of the summer. As part of the festivities, there is a dance around the Maypole. The dancers move around the pole holding ribbons, and they weave an intricate pattern. Kids will love a coloring sheet showing the maypole celebration. The colorful ribbons and festive spring party are a fantastic May coloring page for your kids to enjoy.
May the 4th Be With You
Not everyone knows that May fourth is international Star Wars Day. With the slogan ‘May the fourth be with you,’ this day is the official day to celebrate your Star Wars fandom. If you and your kids are fans of the popular movie franchise, perhaps May fourth will be the perfect day to print out some Star Wars coloring pages. Celebrate May in style, and be sure to have some coloring fun on Star Wars Day.
Cinco de Mayo
Ironically enough, Cinco de Mayo, Spanish for May fifth, is a much more popular holiday in the United States than in Mexico. Even though the holiday originates in Mexico, it has become vastly more popular in the US. The original holiday celebrates the Battle of Puebla, in which Mexico won independence from France. Today, it is a fun celebration filled with music, great food, and dancing. A fun activity for your kids could be to color a May coloring page themed around Cinco de Mayo. These coloring pages provide a lot of room for creativity and expression. Your kids will love learning about the holiday and enjoy the artistic activity.
Mothers Day
Perhaps the most important holiday in May is Mothers Day. This important holiday gives us a chance to celebrate those extraordinary women who brought us into the world. Your child will love a printable May coloring page that they can color and gift to their mother. These May coloring pages can be of some springtime scenes, flowers, or pictures that commemorate Mothers Day. In either case, a coloring page around Mothers Day will provide a fun activity for your child, and also, the finished product can double as a cherished gift for mom.
Memorial Day
At the end of May, we all have a day set aside to honor the servicemen and women of our country. Memorial Day is a great tradition in the US for all of us to remember and honor those who came before, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Coloring pages that showcase patriotism and respect for our military members are a great activity in May. Your kids will learn more about the country and still have a fun time when they color a coloring sheet honoring Memorial day.
