Fun Facts About July
July is well known for the 4th of July, but there’s much more to the month than independence day. July is typically the hottest month of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. This makes it comparable to January in the Southern Hemisphere.
It’s often known as the “Dog days of summer” due to the heat. It’s also called hay month. This is because the grass dries up in many areas of the U.S. The lack of rain and high temps create hay from the grass.
Surprisingly, 3 of America’s founding fathers, all former presidents, died on the 4th of July. John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe all passed on our nation’s birthday.
July Holidays
Independence Day, or the 4th of July, is the most popular July holiday. American Independence Day isn’t the only independence celebration in July.
In addition to the United States, other countries, including Belarus, Venezuela, Argentina, Belgium, and The Bahamas also celebrate their independence during July.
There are some less serious holidays in July as well. July 1st is International Joke Day, and the next day is World UFO Day.
As the month nears a close, July 23 is Gorgeous Grandma Day. The last day of July is Talk In An Elevator Day, and National Mutt Day.
