One detail runs through the whole set and is worth pointing out to a child before they start: the net is drawn as a real net — a lattice of individual cords hanging from the rim, not a solid grey shape. On the two close-up pages it fills half the sheet. It is fiddly and it is also the part that makes a finished page look right, so it is worth doing before the arms and legs rather than after.

Children on the court
Ten pages show a game in progress: two players jumping for the same ball, a child dribbling past a defender, a shot going up toward the backboard, a driveway hoop with a bike leaning against the pole, a park court with trees behind. The figures are drawn simply with round faces, so these work from about age 5.
Cartoon players
Six pages hand the ball to characters instead — a tiger springing at the basket under a smiling sun, a small dinosaur on a beach court, and four with cartoon rabbits, ducks and monsters mid-game. Thick outlines, exaggerated poses, and the easiest pages in the set.
Pro-style players
Four pages take it seriously: a two-player block at the rim with the arena behind, a jump shot over a defender, a portrait of a player spinning the ball on one finger above a blank banner, and three figures inside an oval frame. Muscle and kit detail here is much finer — these suit 9 and up.
The hoop close-ups
Two pages leave the players out and draw the equipment: a ball dropping through the rim with the net cords splayed, and a backboard seen from below against the sky. Both are the most graphic pages in the set and the best two to frame once colored.
How to print these
Every page is US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), pure black and white, with the drawing inside the printable margin. Plain copy paper is fine; choose “Fit to page” if your printer asks. Print at normal or best quality — the net cords are the thinnest lines here and draft mode turns them into a grey block.
