Free ZELDA Coloring Pages & Book for Download (Printable PDF)

Video games have come a long way in my lifetime. I am old enough to remember some of the earliest versions of video game systems. Yet, just as the video game systems have continually adapted, improved, and updated, certain video games have withstood the test of time and evolved with the video game systems. One such game is the Zelda franchise. I remember the original The Legend of Zelda game made for the original Nintendo game console in 1986. The series is still going strong and still producing games for the latest Nintendo systems.

A Little About Zelda

While the Zelda franchise has evolved and changed somewhat, there are always some recurring themes and characters in the games. First and foremost, Link is a constant in the Zelda games. Link is the main character and hero of the series. Generally, Link usually must protect, work with, or find Princess Zelda to save their world of Hyrule. In most Zelda games, Ganon is the main antagonist seeking to obtain the power to conquer the world. He usually needs Princess Zelda to bring his evil schemes to fruition for one reason or another.

One thing about the Zelda games is that they are incredibly picturesque. The world, creatures, and characters all provide excellent subjects for a coloring page. Here are some of the most popular characters to color in our Zelda coloring pages.

Link is the hero of the story and generally the playable avatar you use in the game. Since the game’s inception, Link has had a very distinct look. Link is portrayed in a green foresty tunic and a long green cap behind his head. He has sharp features, blonde hair, and pointy elf-like ears. Link is often depicted equipped with a sword and shield. However, each coloring page that displays Link can vary in detail. The animation of these games has changed drastically. The original avatars of Link are a little less detailed, and they could even be called cute. While more current representations of Link, he appears much more detailed and has the serious demeanor of a hardened warrior. Regardless of the variations, if your kids love these games, they will love a coloring page depicting Link.

Princess Zelda’s wardrobe is not as predictable as Link’s costume. Sometimes the princess is depicted in a tunic and breeches prepared for combat. In other cases, Princess Zelda is portrayed with her Tiara and gown. She also has long blonde hair and pointy ears like Link. Regardless of what she is wearing, Princess Zelda is recognizable in these Zelda coloring pages. Your kids will love the variety of pictures that depict the ever-important princess.

Ganon, also known as Ganondorf, is the most diverse in appearance in the game. This evil entity often changes its shape to fit its needs. Sometimes, the final boss appears as a boar-like monster. One adaptation has Ganon more animalistic on all fours, while others portray him as a humanoid-type boar monster with a vicious snout and tusks. Other adaptations show Ganon looking more like a troll with a large size and green skin. Yet, others portray him as an enormous human character with red hair and armor. No matter the form he takes, a coloring page depicting the game’s ultimate boss is sure to be a favorite.
