Monkeys are such fascinating animals, and they are a big reason why my students love to visit the zoo. As a teacher, it’s my responsibility to make sure the little ones know as much as they can about animals in the wild. I especially love to teach my students about monkeys because they share so many similarities with humans.

My class always hangs onto every word when I start telling them about interesting monkey facts. For instance, monkeys also have unique fingerprints like humans. Plus, they are intelligent and share some of our personality and social traits.
Now, my students have gone to the zoo to see monkeys, and I have told them a great deal about these animals. But besides observing and listening, do you know how else I got them hooked on the topic? Coloring! I hand out monkey coloring pages all the time and ask my students to color away.
And because they have been such a huge success, our monkey coloring pages are now free to download and print so all kids out there can have fun learning about monkeys. The monkey coloring sheets are available as a PDF file that you can reprint as many times as you please to replicate the fun.
Fun Facts About Monkeys
As mentioned, there are many fascinating facts about monkeys that young kids will love to learn about as they work on their coloring pages. First, you can tell them that monkeys are primates that belong to the same group as apes, lemurs, and humans.
Since they’re primates, monkeys have human-like features, such as grasping hands, nails, fingerprints, eyes that face forward, and large brains. They can sit up and stand up straight. The main difference between monkeys and apes is that apes have no tails. Speaking of tails, New World Monkeys have prehensile tails, meaning their tail has a life of its own.
The tail can grab branches and keep the monkey supported as it moves from tree to tree. In fact, there are over 260 monkey species in the world, and many of them have unique traits and plenty of tricks up their sleeves. For instance, the howler monkeys have very loud howls that you can hear as far as three miles away.
The pygmy marmoset is a type of monkey that only weighs around 4 ounces or 113 grams. Then there’s Albert, the rhesus monkey that went to outer space.
As you can see, there’s so much for kids to learn about monkeys. It’s a good thing there are many of these monkey coloring sheets to go around to make the learning process more exciting.
Fun Facts About Monkey Coloring Pages
Our monkey coloring sheets also have many fascinating things you should know about. They show various scenes involving monkeys. Most of them show monkeys in their natural habitat, hanging in trees and searching for bananas. As your kids are working on these coloring pages, they will be developing their hand strength and building the muscles necessary for fine motor skills.
Plus, regardless of whether they are using a pencil, pen, or crayon, coloring teaches children the proper way to grip writing instruments, and that’s a skill everyone needs later in life. Our monkey coloring pages are also beneficial to kids because they stimulate creativity and encourage self-expression.
Your child will learn to define shapes using color, interpret the finished product, and even come up with different stories behind each coloring page. There are no rules when it comes to our coloring pages, so your child gets to decide which colors they want to use in any combination they like. You should see how my students get so focused when working on their monkey coloring sheets. In a nutshell, it’s tough to overstate the benefits and overall usefulness of these monkey coloring pages. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Happy downloading!
