A sunset is one of the few subjects where a coloring page can teach something about color itself. Almost every sheet here draws the sun as a half-disc on the horizon with its rays as separate bands, and the sky above it in two or three wide strips. Those bands are an invitation to blend — yellow into orange into pink — which is a different skill from filling a shape, and the reason these pages are worth handing to a child who has got bored of flat color.

Palm beaches
Eight pages put palms against the setting sun: a lone tree leaning over a small island, a pair framing the water, a beach with crabs and shells in the foreground, a hammock strung between trunks. The palm fronds are the only fine detail on these sheets — everything else is sky, sea and sand in wide bands.
Open sea
Five pages drop the land: dolphins arcing out of the water, a tall-masted sailboat crossing the sun, birds over a swell, a stylised sun with curling rays above flat waves. That last one is the most graphic page in the set and works well as a poster.
Mountains, roads and watchers
Two pages set the sun behind a ridge with a river running out of the valley. Two more use a road: one empty with its centre line running to the horizon, one with a car driving into the light. Four pages add a figure — two children on the sand, a girl standing at the shoreline, a child flying a kite, and a penguin on a rock with the sun behind it.
How to print these
Every page is US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), pure black and white, with the drawing inside the printable margin. Plain copy paper is fine; choose “Fit to page” if your printer asks. Because the sky areas are large and open, these are among the better pages on the site for watercolor or blended pastel — use heavier paper if you go that way.

Are these easy enough for a young child?
Yes — most of them. The sky, sea and sand are drawn as wide bands with nothing small inside, so a crayon covers a lot of ground quickly.
Which page is best for practising blended color?
Any of the pages where the sun sits on the horizon with its rays drawn as separate bands. Colour each band a shade apart and the gradient appears on its own.
Are there sunset pages with animals?
Yes: dolphins on two pages, a penguin on one, and birds over the water on another.
Do I need a color printer?
No. Every page prints in black and white; the color comes from your crayons, pencils or paints.
