- The Grand Vessel’s First and Only (and Ill-Fated) Voyage: The great ship began its first and final voyage on April 10, 1912. It was sailing out of Southampton, England, and everyone was very excited. It was bound for New York City.
Then it docked in France and Ireland to board additional passengers. They were all bubbling over for another life, was it, or a big lark?
- The Sad and Tragic Sinking: On a cold late-night in the North Atlantic Ocean, April 14, 1912, the Titanic ship struck an iceberg. The accident was worse than people realized, at least at first. It caused damage to five of the watertight sections at least, which more than the ship could bear up under. The great ship slowly succumbed all afternoon and sank in the early hours of the morning on April 15, 1912.
- Discovered Deep in the Sea: Nobody knew exactly where the Titanic was for more than 70 years. The legendary shipwreck was eventually discovered in 1985 by a group of divers. It was lounging deep at the bottom of the ocean, some 12,500 feet below the surface. Its discovery was an enormous event that significantly aided our understanding of what had happened that night.

All that creative work sitting there — it just felt a waste. So, some of my family members and I tried a few experiments and we discovered a bunch of fun, easy crafts you can make. Here are some of our favorite ways to give your gorgeous work a second act.
DIY Storybook
You can turn your titanic coloring pages into a story told with pictures. Put the finished pictures in an order that tells the story of the Titanic. You could start with the ship being built, then a picture of it at the dock. Next, you could have a scene of it sailing on the ocean.
You could then have the iceberg, a page with lifeboats, and a final picture of the shipwreck today. Write a short, simple sentence at the bottom of each page. When you are done, staple the pages together. You will have a special storybook your child can be proud of making.
3D Paper Diorama
You can make a cool 3D scene that brings the Titanic to life. All you need is an old shoebox for your project. This will be your stage with titanic coloring pages.

I have some favorite tips that I always give to make coloring less challenging and to improve the look of your art.
Choosing Your Best Coloring Tools
- Colored Pencils: Pictures with little details call for colored pencils in my opinion. You can reign them in pretty well. They’re also great for shading, and blending colors together for a smooth style.
- Markers: Anything you want to be bright and bold loves a good marker. They’re perfect for making the big ship really pop off the page. Just be messy on thicker paper so the ink doesn’t bleed through.
- Crayons: Crayons are what little kids usually want. They’re comfortable for little hands to grip and can color in large areas extremely quickly. They also create a fun, waxy texture that feels good.
How to Blend Colors
The ocean thing might look hard, but it is super easy. Here’s a simple way to get the best Titanic pages. Start by filling in everything with some water using a light blue colour. Then long gentle wavy lines with a medium blue.
This is going to give a feeling that the water is flowing. For deeper shadows, you could use a darker blue, or even a bit of green in a few places. The final step is to take a white pen or white crayon and put little glistening spots on top of the waves. This appears to be where the sun or moon would be lighting up the water.
Adding Backgrounds
