CDC does not disclose, give, sell, or transfer any personal information about VERBnow.com web site visitors unless required for law enforcement or otherwise required by law. This site is maintained by the US government and is protected by various provisions of Title 18, U.S. Code. Violations of Title 18 are subject to criminal prosecution in Federal court. Record Your Activity: Personally identifiable information: ? At registration, we ask children to provide their date of birth in order to customize their account and enhance their user experience. ? We collect the above information "directly." In other words, we only receive information that has been actively entered when prompted. Non-personally identifiable information: In order to activate the account, we ask children to create a username from a selection list of available usernames. We only ask for email addresses of users that wish to participate in sweepstakes, emails and/or e-newsletter receipts. Passwords for usernames are for the creation and management of their characters and recording and tracking their activities. For children age 12 or under, we ask them to provide a parent's/guardian's email address for authorization to participate. We will send a separate email to the parent/guardian to confirm their consent to the child's participation in sweepstakes and e-newsletter receipt. We invite children to share information about their daily physical activity in the My VERB Recorder section. Information submitted to My VERB Recorder is used for the following purposes only: awarding prizes (if applicable) for physical activity, entry into sweepstakes (if applicable), and for the creation and modification of the characters they create online (to visually reward them for their participation). Children are not required to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in these activities. Children are not required to participate in polls, surveys, or contests in order to use the site or access their My VERB Recorder account. We collect the above information "directly". In other words, we only receive information that has been actively entered when prompted. Electronic Newsletters and Emails: VERBnow.com offers registered visitors the opportunity to sign up to receive the VERB newsletter, emails and/or web site update information. When a tween asks to receive our email newsletter, emails and/or updates, the tween is asked to provide his or date of birth (to confirm age eligibility of over 12 to receive messages), their email address or the email address of his or her parent or legal guardian (if 12 or under). If 12 or under, the visitor's parent or legal guardian will receive a notification email informing him or her of the tween's request to receive by email the VERB newsletter and/or web site updates on an ongoing basis and give the parent/legal guardian the option to have his or her tween's information be removed from our database. At any time after receiving this notification email, the tween's parent/legal guardian has the opportunity to exercise the option to request that we stop sending the tween the newsletter and/or updates and to request that the tween's information be removed from our newsletter/updates by following the "unsubscribe" instructions found in either their initial notification email or at the end of any of the newsletter and update emails. In addition, parents/legal guardians may at any time review any identifiable information collected about their tween. All information collected for the VERB newsletter and/or VERBnow.com web site updates is used only to send the tween the electronic newsletter and/or updates and may be transferred, disclosed, or shared with third parties who may be engaged by us specifically to handle the preparation and delivery of the electronic newsletter and updates and perform other related technical and processing functions.
